Corporate Bonds Listing

Question: Have money market accounts every failed & what are all the different kinds of bonds?
Those are my two questions...Please list ALL (or at least all the major) types of bonds. I know of a few.
municipal bonds
treasury bonds
Corporate Bonds
What others are there, and what exactly is a bond? i believe they arent fdic insured right?
Please be alittle specific for second question, thanks!
Answer: I cant name one money market account that has ever failed and most of them are FDIC insured but not all of them so read up. You have to watch the interest rates go up and down though so you might get screwed when your rates plummit.
Municipal bonds are bonds with your state government. Treasury bonds go to the Federal government and Corporate bongs go to large corporations.
There is another type called a Ginnie Maes that goes to Mortgage lenders.
A bond is a loan to the organizations listed below that have specific terms laid out. They are not FDIC insured because if the company you loan the money to goes under and cant pay you then you are out the money. Bonds are boring and you should invest in stocks through mutual funds.
